WHAT WE DO

The Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs promotes the wellbeing and development of Pacific peoples in New Zealand.  We work to ensure that Pacific peoples can participate in and contribute fully to New Zealand's social, cultural and economic life.

We do this in a way that recognises and reflects Pacific cultural values and aspirations.

We ensure that the Minister of Pacific Island Affairs and relevant agencies are well informed about the circumstances and perceptions of Pacific peoples in New Zealand, and the challenges they face.  In turn, we aim to ensure that Pacific peoples are well informed about, and thus better able to access, government processes and services of relevance to them.
