How to Apply for Registration
Pacific people who want to be considered for an appointment to state sector boards can apply to the Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs to become registered on its Nominations database. Many different positions become vacant each year, and each requires a person with a particular set of skills and experience. If you are interested in applying to be on our nominations database you will need to provide us with information about yourself, your skills and experience, using the forms provided. You can also nominate someone else for registration: Contact the Ministry so we can liaise directly with that person – or refer him or her to this website.
The application process
1 - Download a Registration Form, Skills Checklist, and CV Form.
2 - Use the Checklist to see if you have the skills and knowledge required to be nominated for a government board.
3 - If you answered ‘yes’ to at least three questions in the checklist, then complete the Registration Form (which includes a Release of Personal Information clause).
4 - Complete our CV form to ensure you provide us with information we need.
5 - Send us a letter of application, with attached CV and Registration Form.
These forms explain the personal information we need from you and, once you sign, allow us to share this information with relevant government agencies and Ministers. You will need to complete all sections of the forms.
What happens to your application?
When you apply to be registered on the nominations database, we will:
1 - Acknowledge receipt of your application.
2 - Check your CV to make sure you have the relevant skills, knowledge and governance experience to be added to our database.
3 - Contact your referee, and undertake standard checks on the information that you have provided.
4 - Let you know if we can add you to our database.
5 - Enter your name and details on the database, once we have confirmed your information and eligibility.
You may then be short-listed for a nomination if your skills and experience match the needs of a vacant board position.
If your application is not accepted
We will let you know if we cannot accept your application at this time.
You can find suggestions on how to gain additional skills or experience that you may need in the Frequently-asked Questions document (PDF)
If your circumstances change, you can then re-apply to be registered on our Nominations Database.
