The
Funding Information Service (FIS)
The FIS maintains comprehensive information on sources of funding available in New Zealand. Its Fundview database provides information for iwi, voluntary and community groups, and the Breakout database provides a guide to scholarships, awards and grants for individuals. FIS also provides advice about making funding applications, and a guide to corporate sponsorship.
The information is available by subscription, or you can view the databases free of charge at many local libraries or citizens’ advice bureaux.
Department of Internal Affairs
The Local Government and Community Branch administers and provides information and advice on nine community grants or funding schemes to support local initiatives, community services and community-based youth development. Amongst the funds this branch administers are the Community Organisation Grants Scheme (COGS); the Community Development Scheme which supports community, hapu, iwi, Pacific and ethnic group initiatives; and the Community Partnership Fund developed under the Digital Strategy to help community groups provide their people with better access to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) (for example, helping people gain knowledge and skills that will enable them to use ICT ).
The DIA website also describes other funding options, such as New Zealand Lottery Grants Board, Trust and Fellowship Grants: www.dia.govt.nz.
nzlive’s
cultural funding guide
The Ministry for Culture and Heritage’s nzlive.com website provides a searchable guide to funding for cultural events across New Zealand. It provides links to information about how to apply for funding. The website also maintains databases about events and organisations throughout New Zealand.
