Communications and Relationships
Communications and Relationships Directorate
Members of this directorate channel information and advice between government and Pacific communities.
Managing and sustaining relationships with Pacific peoples is central to their role. Through print and electronic media, and face-to-face meetings at community fono, they collect and distribute information about Pacific peoples and the issues that concern them. Advisors in the directorate write and manage our publications (both print and online) and deal with the news media.
In addition, they write briefings and draft speeches for the Chief Executive and for the Minister of Pacific Island Affairs.
This directorate also has responsibility for designing and managing innovative projects with the aim of improving Pacific peoples’ status and wellbeing. It also maintains our Nominations Service and database.
The Directorate is based in Wellington, with communications and information advisors working there and in our Auckland and Christchurch offices.
