Search on for Young Enterprise alumni

14 October 2011

The Young Enterprise Trust is on the search for graduates of the Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme (YES).

The Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) inspires and motivates young New Zealanders to succeed in business through real hands-on experience and a can-do attitude. It encourages students to come up with a business idea, translate that into a plan and to implement it from start to finish. The scheme teaches business fundamentals and best practice, and nurtures the entrepreneurial spirit. The YES programme runs over the course of the student year and culminates in the YES awards where real companies set up by students, receive real awards.

YES celebrates its 30th anniversary in November 2011 and as part of the celebrations is on a mission to find alumni for its recently-established YES alumni network.

The purpose of the network is to provide a hub for business networking and to provide mentoring opportunities for young YES graduates. It is also an opportunity to track and profile alumni success stories. YES alumni will enjoy the benefits of networking and will be invited to participate in regional networking events. They will also be encouraged to join conversations online at http://www.facebook.com/alumni.yes

Nearly 35,000 students have taken part in YES since it launched in 1981 and on average more than 3,100 students from 180 secondary schools participate in the scheme annually.

YES believe that the future economic prosperity of New Zealand depends in part on graduating enterprise-capable and financially literate students. Growing the alumni and profiling their stories will help promote this free scheme to all New Zealand students.

This network is a chance to help raise the profile of YES and inspire more students to participate and develop into early entrepreneurs.

If you are a YES graduate or know of someone who is, go online and register at: www.yesalumni.co.nz
