Housing is a priority focus for the Ministry for Pacific Peoples, as set out in the Ministry’s Strategic Intentions 2025–2029 (PDF, 9MB).
Improving housing stability, affordability, and pathways to home ownership is closely linked to better health, education, and economic outcomes for Pacific peoples.
The Ministry’s housing programmes contribute to these strategic priorities through targeted initiatives, partnerships across government, and support for Pacific-led solutions. The Ministry reports on housing programme progress through its Annual Reports and six-monthly housing updates to Ministers.
Fale mo Aiga – Pacific Housing Strategy and Action Plan is a long-term framework developed to provide a shared reference point for understanding the housing challenges and aspirations of Pacific peoples.
The Fale mo Aiga strategy was informed by talanoa with Pacific communities through Pacific Aotearoa Lalanga Fou (PDF, 7MB) and developed collaboratively by the Ministry for Pacific Peoples, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, and Kāinga Ora.
The Ministry’s housing programmes across home ownership, financial capability, and housing supply align with the intent of Fale mo Aiga by supporting housing stability, affordability, and long-term wellbeing for Pacific families.
