Pacific Aotearoa Community Outreach

Pacific Aotearoa Community Outreach

The Pacific Aotearoa Community Outreach initiative (PACO) was established to enable more frequent and responsive engagements between government and Pacific communities to keep Pacific peoples informed and supported during the country's response to COVID-19.

The Pacific Aotearoa Community Outreach Fund aims to increase engagements across Government to ensure support into hard-to-reach Pacific cohorts and build capacity to deliver increased engagements without placing additional burden on current resources.

The objectives of the fund are to:

  • Educate and increase preparedness of Pacific communities on new COVID-19 health measures such as the COVID-19 Protection Framework (traffic lights).
  • Create community awareness of vaccinations, vaccine passes and certificates.
  • Keep Pacific peoples safe and prepared through community readiness and support.

Applicants can apply by submitting a costed proposal.

UPDATE: In February 2022, the Government announced $18 million in new funding for the Pacific Aotearoa Community Outreach initiative to support Pacific communities to prepare, respond and recover from the social and health impacts of the COVID-19 Omicron variant. Learn more:
